This thematic conference in Warsaw explores the complex cultural system of court dining (1300–1800), using the Wilanów Palace and its “advanced culinary reconstruction center” as a primary case study. By bridging the gap between “behind-the-scenes” logistics—such as kitchen gardens, supply chains, and porcelain production—and the “in-front-of-the-scenes” spectacle of ritual, music, and ceremonial choreography, the meeting reimagines the dining room as a multi-sensory stage. Our goal is to unite court studies with sensory history and digital humanities to define how dining functioned as a cohesive European cultural system. This multi-day event will feature an open call for papers, methodological roundtables, and immersive site-based explorations of Warsaw’s rich gastronomic and architectural heritage.
