The thematic meeting will run for 3 days including paper presentations, discussions and site visits. With the tentative title “Fabrics at court: the sensorial approach”, it will remain broad in its approach in order to touch upon as many aspects as possible of the sensorial world of textiles. Its most significant challenge, it seems, will be to systematize the most important areas of enquiry surrounding the sensorial effect of textiles in the various courtly spaces. The venue for this meeting was chosen because the Patrimonio Nacional holds, in and around Madrid, a surprisingly unknown collection of tapestries, which is possibly the world’s largest making it especially appropriate for a discussion of textiles.
