Within our network, we are always on the lookout for innovative projects that push the boundaries of art history and digital humanities. We would like to bring your attention to an impressive digital exhibition recently hosted by the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum in Madrid.
Project Spotlight: “Five Senses”
“Five Senses: Sensoriality, Art, and Scenographic Culture in the Early Modern Period” is a good example of how digital platforms can breathe new life into historical research. The project examines the sensory landscape of the Early Modern era, exploring how sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste influenced the art and “scenographic culture” of the time.
The project focuses on multisensory history and digital curation and aligns closely with the interests of the COST Action SENSES.
The Expert Team Behind the Project:
-
Curators: Carmen González-Román (Universidad de Málaga), Concepción Lopezosa Aparicio (Universidad Complutense de Madrid), and Rudi Risatti (Theatermuseum, Vienna).
-
Digital Design: The interface was developed by the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien (Department Branding / Web), resulting in a seamless and evocative user experience.
