The SENSES COST Action is pleased to share the upcoming conference, “Storytelling at Princely Courts, c. 1200–1800,” hosted at the University of Wrocław from August 27–29, 2026. This event explores how narratives—ranging from official chronicles and chivalric poems to whispered rumors and architectural symbolism—served as a vital “meta-code” that shaped European court life. For the SENSES community, the conference offers a unique opportunity to examine storytelling not just as text, but as a multisensory performance where the sights, sounds, and material textures of the court environment were used to project power and negotiate social identity across the premodern world.
