About the Action

A European network exploring the multisensory worlds of medieval and early modern court residences through interdisciplinary and digital humanities approaches.

Background

Building on recent advances in court studies, sensory history, and digital humanities to rethink how court spaces were experienced and interpreted today.

Objectives

To advance research, strengthen collaboration across sectors, and develop innovative tools and practices for understanding and presenting palace heritage.

Creating the Sacred at Court

Description of the Action

Sensing Europe’s Court Spaces at the Crossroads of Past, Present and Future

SENSES investigates the court residence as a multisensory environment, examining how people in medieval and early modern Europe perceived, used and inhabited these spaces. Bringing together historians, heritage professionals, and digital humanities experts, the network advances research and develops innovative ways to understand and present palace heritage today.
